Fragrance repeats the same flacon form as previous editions of the collection and will be available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. Dry down is really nice and was my signature scent for a while. Not quite as youthful as it sounds. If I were to assign seasons to chance perfumes: The notes on the Chanel website are different. I am afraid I have to agree exactly with foxy_princess. Although Eau Vive's citrus character supposed to be more fresh, sporty and active, to me it's addictive, classy and a hint of citric sweetness. It's refreshing because it's somewhat bitter, apart form tart. Sadly not for me. Can't be without it. I'm not a big fan of citrus, though I can appreciate a good one (Chance eau fraiche). If you like fresh fragrances and wanted something a little more classy this is a lovely fresh fragrance to own. Again my favourite perfumer behind this fragrance, so I knew I could not go too wrong with a blind buy. It breaks my heart to see such negative reviews about this fragrance. Epicene Gamma IFF: The Common Part of Spicy Men's Colognes of the 1980s? Off-White Paperwork: A Quartet of Contrasts, Close Your Eyes, Relax, Breathe and Envision a Blue Light, Cacao In The Sun by Maison Tahit: Dipped Strawberries, WPC 2022 - Discovering Asafoetida with Galbanum Oil From Iran, A Brand New Victoria's Secret Fragrance: Bare, Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum Reserve Prive, Chanel - Chance Eau Vive Eau De Toil (. You can't not like it and it smells expensive. Eau Fraiche too masculine? I love Chanel vive , its so refreshing, sexy and the fragrance is just vibrant and juicy. I really like this fragrance. So strange how perfumes change like that. Any more than that and you will suffocate people around you. If you like citrus fragrances then you have to try this, I think it's also totally unisex and would smell great on a guy. Haha! I think this will be amazing in the warmer months, but I don't think it's terribly out of place when you need a pick me up in a state of "winter blues". Got this as a free sample from a Chanel order. Eau vive is modern, fresh, young and funny yet chic and bon ton in its own way. Unlike the previous flankers, this doesn't remind me of Chanceit seems like a completely different fragrance. Unique enough, but not my favourite. It's a masterpiece in my opinion. I liked Vive the best. This is another winner from Chanel, very citrus and I find the orange notes to be strong on opening which I love. So much overwhelming, reigning, pure, loud citrus. The prices go up and the quality goes down. Ohhhh Me and Chanel .Totally in love :) X. Ok so earlier I reviewed this, and at the time I figured it was a scent that was nice, but one that was so-so & I'd never buy the bottleI was wrong. I'm not sure why this fragrance is getting so many dislikes because I absolutely love it! It takes time to show itself. So far I love it. Just got a sample of this in a magazine. Not worth the money in my opinion. It stays well and projects great I already received compliments. I am baffled at the reviews that say that this does not last. I got several compliments while wearing this, which does not hurt. Citruses, cedar and iris. To me, it is just Chance EDP with strong jasmine notes. They're both lovely in their own ways. It was a gift and I put it in the back of the closet feeling it was too strong for me. The fragrance does turn floral on the skin as well, some mixing of jasmine and iris, and then it's reminiscent of Eau Premiere. I think it's possibly one of the least raved about Chanel releases for a long time. (Probably "Chance Eau Vive Fraiche eau de toilette" is too awkward). Tested this in store, oh my word what is happening to perfume houses? Chance Eau vive is PERFECT for hot tropical weather but what I've noticed is that even when worn in colder weather, it brings about a dark baroque very Chanel-esque vibe and it's breathtaking! Oh my gosh I finally got a sample of this with my Chanel No 19 order and this is so good. My friend on the other hand smells absolutely divine with clean perfumes. To me it is a spring perfume all the way, can't go wrong with it, it is pleasant to almost anyone and I could say "country club classy". The base is musky, possibly even with a bit of dry sandalwood, somewhat sensual. Only the drydown is very reminiscent of the original chance edt/edp. But it didn't capture my imagination and make me feel great the way your special or favourite perfumes do. Sorry Eau Fraiche you have been dethroned by Eau Vive..lol. Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . This is definitely strong on the grapefruit in a good way. The notes look attractive at first, but I wouldn't give money for it. Perfect in the heat. Maybe if this was on sale I would buy it. Then, it started to dry down. Out of all the Chanel Chance flankers hubby loves this one the most with second being Eau Fraiche. and that one is another crowd/compliment getter! And it lasts a good 6-8 hours. It's fresh and elegant. It's slightly crisp/fresh, but not as fresh as Eau Fraiche or as dry as Chance. This is the original Chance with a strong splash of grapefruit! For such a simple citrus perfume this stuff was POTENT on me.The grapefruit seemed to just scream at everyone I came in contact with. Seems like there's less floral notes in this one, is that why everyone who love Chanel hates this one? It is nice, but I can buy that one all day long at TJ Maxx for $12.99. The drydown is a soft sweet musk/white floral mix on a soapy cedar base and a bit of grapefruit on top. Longevity is very good. Umema: The Perfume That'll Never Be Smelled. Chanel make this an edp! I haven't been a fan of other Chances in the past .. This being the first scent by Olivier Polge after the retirement of his beloved father Jacques Polge, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. A nice option to try if you like Eau Fraiche, but want something else. Zesty and bright, not very strong. Wish it lasted longer on my skin, but it's so pleasant and happy making, I can forgive the performance. :). The drydown with its vetiver and cedar reminds me of Estee Lauder Pleasures, evoking a similar feel of a rainwashed summer garden. Chanel Chance (2003). I bought this because it smelled so beautiful on the girl at the register. I also smell Jasmine. Something, that could easily become my everyday scent. Something floral lingers in the background, but the citrus is covering everything. Most of my favorite and signature scents were created by the amazing Jacques Polge and happy to say Olivier's first Chanel scent was not a gourmand Patchouli bomb! Good for women of all ages. I sampled and bought it within an hour! :) Bravo, Chanel. Mademoiselle EDP, Eau Fraiche and Eau Tendre are MUCH more interesting and balanced citrus fragrances. Only a brief feeling of freshness. Its pretty refreshing. It's a lovely floral, maybe a bit too light for my tastes but very pleasant. I dont mind citrusy perfume, even one of my most loved fragrance - Flora by gucci edp (currently wearing :), which is realy very citrusy, but i just dont get Eau Vive - it smells like man's colone, a harsh, sharp mans colone. Eau Vive is the perfect mediator! If only people weren't so ignorant and willing to compromise on lasting power to have a chanel perfume, we could all stop buying it and they wouldn't have a choice but to bring back the good quality stuff. I wished Eau Tendre will work for me, when I put it it turns to a generic white floral and mediocre citrus that smells unisex. | Deutsch | Espaol | Franais | etina | Italiano | | Polski | Portugus | | | Nederlands | Srpski | Romn | | | | |, Copyrights 2006-2022 Fragrantica.com perfumes magazine - All Rights Reserved - do not copy anything without prior written permission. It does project in an indoor atmosphere gathering. The reason is simple and clear, because the nose of Chanel has changed. I appreciate the slight differences and am enjoying these light and airy fragrances. Smells so masculine on my skin. Chance Eau Vive is a stunning summer scent. I gave it to them. I'ts a bit aquatic somehow. I wonder if the experience would be better in a rollerball or dabber? Its a shame to me the opening is what makes this unique but it goes to a skin scent and doesnt last at all . I can feel mostly the fresh, citrusy notes but without the slight bitterness I have encountered in other similar scents, it's a delicate, feminine fragrance, both youthful and classy. I tried it for the second time now on skin and like it better than before. I thought I would love the citrus mix of grapefruit and lemon but I find this one to be over the top with the citrus and is becomes almost too sweet. Yay!! This ones a classic. Since I live in a hot tropic, it's very rarely that I indulge in my YSL manifesto or Lancme la vie est belle. I was not a fan of Coco Mademoiselle yet back then but I liked patchouli florals a lot. It's a shame it's an EDT. It is smooth but I find it very musky, like all the other notes sort of hide or blend into the muskI found myself going back and forth in regards to whether I liked it or notHowever, this is probably due to the price point and the brand which is why I think it would make a good gift. Chance eau Vive is the best Chance for me. For a Chanel?BOWLING? I find myself reaching for Eau Vive more than Tendre - which tells me it's a winner! the bitter paired with the floral just isnt for me. I felt some of the blood orange peeking in. I will start off by saying that aquatics/citrus scents never go over well on my skin. They lack the joyful blast that opens this fragrance, but they're fresh and mildly sweet. As time goes by it becomes pretty and floral, like a smell of delicate spring flowers, which is possibly the iris or jasmine. I can smell almost nothing else. I miss the days when I could just buy a Guerlain or a Chanel and know it would both last and smell great. Imagine you peeled some citrus fruit and that burst of freshness hits you. I found them much too citrusy with a strong dose of woody musk (very much like sour body odor). Sampled this today. Eau Vive is not an innocent girl (Eau Tendre), but a woman full of grace and subtle elegance. why are they watering down their fragrances and putting up the prices? I'm wearing it right now, and it's snowing outside. Right then and there I knew I couldnt return it. You might ask, wouldn't that just be Mademoiselle? Please read the Terms of Service and Privacy policy. This lasted about eight hours, but when you don't like it that is not a plus. Piahellgren, you hit the nail on the head. And no. Can't go wrong with that! I got this secondhand so the juice might have already gotten bad. In theory, I like Eau Fraiche but find it too "astringent" for me. I would call this Chance Summer. The grapefruit does have some sourness and it does smell like sweat a little, but the good kind of salty sweat like youre laying on the beach in the hot sun. Dries down sweet, but not overly so. So sad. Yesterday, I decided to test it out again. Eau vive is breathtaking. The grapefruit and blood orange decides they're tired and don't want to play in the sandbox anymore, so they walk home, and very quickly might I add. As a Chanel perfume fan, At first I was slightly underwhelmed with this scent. Great summer scent. This is sharp in that it's a fresh floral, but I don't get even the slightest twinge of a headache. Perfume lovers: 791,748 This is definitely going to be my next purchase and I'm getting a 5 oz bottle of this..it's that good. Later it gets a bit powdery and the grapefruit gets warm and starts smelling like sweat. I'm almost tempted to try other fragrances during this time to see how much better they smell as I know that Midnight Poison smells amazing during this time of the year especially during the winter. This is like Mademoiselle's loud, brassy sister. I love this it smells quite citrusy with the grapefruit as the star being so sweet and fresh. Definitely prefer Eua Tendre and Eau Fraiche! As is the case with a lot of Chanel fragrances, when I first tested this I disliked it. This light, inoffensive scent opens with a burst of citrus - mostly grapefruit with some slightly tart orange. It's warm without being vanilla-y or overly resinous (which I love, but not in a fresh Spring scent). Did not care for it then. Sadly on me this lasts about five minutes. Not the super sweet kind almost with a slight bitter edge. It's tenacious, full marks for longevity when I have been alerted by poor performance to other Chanels being attenuated, so that's a plus for many. Later on a girl in the mall gave me a sample and I found out that it was in fact a beautiful scent. Can't really comment more than this Chanel, what the hell are you doing? It stays pretty much citrus from beginning to end with just hints of floral/woody notes. Knowing me knowing you, it's not the best I can do. Of course its very different from the Chanel classics, but its a valid modern offer of the brand. It gives off moderate projection for about an hour, maybe 2, but then becomes a skin scent which is expected for an EDT. It smells Crisp & Fresh with a beautiful floral. I think for me the grapefruit is just too strong. It has a clean unisex feel that borders on masculine, and it stays fresh and clean throughout the day, which I love. (Pretty much the same review from my old username, just updated). Unfortunately I get a lot of vetiver which makes it a bit masculine on me but I'm trying to forget about it and enjoy it as a whole :). I would say there's a good chance, that if you like one, you'll also like the other. Very citrusy. This is the freshie I will go to for Spring & Summer because that creamy white floral with the citruses is just so good to me personally. and changes as you are wearing it. This time a get a very fresh and strong grapefruit with a bit of soapiness, but now it goes well together. I'm not a huge fan of Chance, but I don't dislike it - I find it appealing, yet for me, somewhat too similar with Coco Mad to justify also owning. All in all it's Elegant to wear in the Spring/Summer like for a Wedding. I will probably give it a try again someday because I want to test it on my skin. I am picky and the only other thing I've smelled that smells this good is dolce and gabbana light blue. I adore the scent of blood oranges and vetiver, so I was waiting it's release like a little girl, but when I finally tested it, I wasn't impressed but kept the paper card in my pocket. Fresh, simple and nice, but way overpriced. I want to love this. Eau Vive is by far my favorite from this line. Just need to get the matching body lotion now! Sad to be late to that party! That said Chance eau vive is so very forgettable and unremarkable. The scent is nice citrus-y fresh but it does remind me too much of bathroom cleaner. It's definitely the strongest out of the entire Chance line, but I'd definitely recommend this fragrance. Unfortunately. I just purchase a second larger bottle bottle as a backup. The dry down is smelling like Chance original without patchouli. Third; a classic drydown of white musk/cedar/iris giving the scent elegance and grace. It was more than a year that I had this sample of chance eau vive and I was never eager to try it.back then I wasn't a Chanel girl.I also disliked citrus and woody scent but lately I'm loving any Chanel perfume I try so I had to give a go to eau vive. Beautiful for all ages, classic, timeless. in the opening is heavy and huge citrus, bitter and sour grapefruit followed by lovely and sweet jasmine, then light woody and silky iris vibe in dry down, overall is clean fresh sweet and airy perfume, easy to wear for every day. The men's version. I decided to try this in the cold as eau fraiche changes in the seasons with my body chemistry and this smells even better in the cold..it's gotten sweeter, the citrus is more present and the iris, jasmine, cedar and musk amp upthis is so good..I think I prefer to wear Eau Vive during the winter more than the summer and Eau Fraiche during the summer as that smells better on me during that season versus the winter. I don't get particular notes in the first hour other than a slightly aquatic floral similar to the style of Creed's Spring Flower. It opens with a blast of blood orange, and grapefruit, then turns into a fizzy orange smell for a while. The zesty citrus notes are gorgeous and the dry down brings about another dimension with the jasmine and musk. Both women and men love this. Second; a lovely, sweet, moderate citrus, refreshing but not the turbo kind, that will make your eyes water and get you thinking about home maintenance products. Unfortunately, my favorite perfumes tend to start young then end sexy and grown. i got 4 samples so I've tried it a couple times now & i don't feel any different about it. This works so well on a hot day, especially if I'm not into smelling sweet that day. The drydown is nice but nothing you haven't seen before. I find the more time I have had with it the more I understand it and love it more. It was sunny and 70 where I live today and I am on spring break so Eau Vive perfectly fit the vibe! This is citrus-y, fresh, and feminine. Smelled it on a friend. Very fresh and very Chanel. I think there's too much cedar; and it's a damp, mildewy cedar for me. It might be meant for summer use, but you can easily wear it all year round. Is it unique? You can't go wrong with a bit of Chanel can you? I liked it and was given a small decant sample. Performance is almost overwhelming, Chanel did not disappoint me at that. Very easy to wear, not challenging in any ways. It's so light and transparent. I am afraid of discontinuance. The smell is strong, like an auntie with bright lipstick who grips you for a hug. It's absolutely NOT a basic fresh smelling musky smell. Also, the commercialbowling? Perhaps one day I will find a Chanel that works well on my skin, but alas it is not this day. The woods come in JUST enough to stop the overwhelming pink grapefruit from being to sharp and metallic. Also noticeable is the jasmine and sexy iris to lock in that date-night feel during warm summer evenings. Longetivity is, even if you wash yourself you can still smell it. Sillage is strong. Then I actually started reading the reviews and realized that the problem that people see with this perfume is its price and the fact that it's justpleasant. I don't know why this is not talked about as much as Eau Fraiche but I love this even more than Chance Eau Fraiche because its not rough around the edges as Eau Fraiche can sometimes be. The citrus adds to the jasmine making it sweet and so ever pretty. Or perhaps citruses just don't settle well on my skin. Its bright, sexy and just my type of scent. Can not detect it anymore. The very next day, I wore a robe that I had sprayed Eau Vive on. lol. This is refreshing and is a great pick me up. Smells lovely in the bottle. It takes time to develop. Im having trouble thinking of words for this one. And it woukd have been good if it was just so - to my nose, after an hour on my wrist it started to smell quite harsh and grating, and I realized it was the iris. first a strong blast of gapefruit - rather unisex, but after an hour a delicious BUBBLE GUM!!! Chance Eau Fraiche the most. A good compliment getter that really shines in the winter. Longevity and projection as expected for an EDT. The first time it was just horribly soapy on me, not much else. (I didn't really like Chance Eau Tendre when I tried it in the past - too young and cakey sweet for me.) Chance eau Vive is a perfume for life, suitable for every stylization and occasion (in warmer weather). This starts out as a bright citrus, but becomes a jasmine scent. The collection was started with fragrance Chanel Chance in 2003, followed by versions Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche in 2007 and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre in 2010. It is surprsingly long lasting. It's refreshing, soothing yet invigorating in the hot and humid weather. It's excellent. Chance Eau Vive managed to sneak into the Chance range without much of a fuss. I love this! I guess just not for me. They blend together and it's like they are very lightley sparkeled with some citrus. There are literally millions of them out there from various different brands. It's also pretty generic, doesn't really smell innovative or unique to me. This Chance seems infused with a large dose of Cristalle eau Verte. Wow..now why did I have to try this one just when I went on another no buy. As much as I love it, I find the patchouli and pink pepper notes a bit much for every day wear. Has become my new favorite. I foresee women who work in corporate settings wearing this to the office because it's so lovely and refined, and would turn heads. Another eBay score! I really don't like this version of Chance. Tendre is sweet grapefruit heaven, Fraiche is lemony/citrus green heaven, and Vive is just blah. It's perfect for spring and summer days. The way Chanel does iris is just ahhhh and it is the common theme in many Chance flankers which I adore. I like it, but as many others here, I like other Chances better. The 2nd would be Chance eau Fraiche. It is very innocent and unexciting (to me). I have had a bottle of original Chance EDT or EDP in my collection for years. It's long lasting with decent projection. It's OK, an invigorating summer scent that doesn't really strike me as chic. by Elena Vosnaki, John Biebel, Stefanie Jhn, Rouu Abd El-Latif, Bella van der Weerd. Eau Vive is lighthearted, juicy, uplifting it just makes me smile when I wear it. Simply put, Eau Tendre and Eau Fraiche just smell better. I love this beauty!Yes,Its typical Chanel fragrance, because it gives a nice soapy feeling,a fresh but elegant, playful but mature.I have to say that for me is like a very watered down, very very light coco mademosielle, like said some people before.Very lovely citrus opening gives me a happy feeling, that I have energy for everything, than the soapy musky jasmine in the dry down shows how elegant how feminine is this perfume. Or maybe only spray on clothes? I have tried the wrong Chance perfume at the store, I wanted to test Eau Tendre to compare it with Marc Jacobs Daisy, but I end up picking Eau Vive instead. I have a soft spot for the Eau Tendre and own the largest bottle, but it's sort of a comfort scent. He was the BEST! I recommend testing. Eau Vive on the other hand is, while undoubtedly part of the Chance family,as clear and translucent as if something created by Issey Miyake. It's quite subtle but I'm sure it would be a beautiful day time fragrance to own. Performed well on me, unlike most Chanels. It's not for everyone, but some do like it, I get it. So if you're from somewhere colder than the SUPER hot tropic of Sri Lanka, don't be afraid to get this. This is fun and lady-like for summer and has low sillage and so makes a great office appropriate scent. It should be right there next to Eau Tendre, not all the way on the bottom with the hair mists! Perfumes like Hypnotic Poison and Fantasy tend to work best for me so this was certainly a polar opposite from what I normally gravitate towards. A lovely addition for any Chanel / Chance flanker collector. which is always a difficult note for me, devouring all the other notes on my skin. Still, what happens after the big citrusy burst, is quite interesting. This fragrance is a joke to me. The Eau Vive for me is at once simplistic and yet challenging. I'll try it again, but it looks like my brothers girlfriend, who loves anything from Chanel, has a 1.7 oz bottle coming to her. Every once in a while, the citruses would shine through, but it seemed like the various notes weren't quite meant for one another. To me, it screams the sophisticated woman. This without a doubt is my FAVOURITE Chanel fragrance, followed closely by Coco Mademoiselle. Like many others said this was a pleasant surprise. My favourite of all the Chance range. I own Chance Eau Tendre and was never really a fan of Eau Fraiche - too green for me. The original Chance has that masculine touch but in a classy and soft/aquatic way, l prefer the old one. Eau Vive is very close to the original Chance EDT but without the vetiver in the base that can come across as masculine sometimes (despite the notes listed here). It has impressive longevity - I sprayed it on at 6:45am and although it is now a skin scent I can still smell it at 7pm. Only coco mademoiselle kinda of workstuff for me but it still smells much nicer on my mom. Nothing super unique but very likable and inoffensive. This is the Chanel for you. Much love Monsieur Polge ~ your place in history will last forever. I really like it. The blood orange is divine and it wears beautifully on me, of all the chances vive is for me. I must say though that it is zesty and orangey, something that will wake you up but it is not compelling enough to make me puchase it. Youthful, uplifting, fresh. I tend to get instant headaches from D&G Light Blue or anything really sharp. And it has a weird "twang" that I can't describe but do not like. Not in my opinion. It brings juicy citrus to the table, just enough oomph to make you feel elegant and just the right blend that brings out complexity. Olivier is on the right track! Lasts next day on clothes and about 6 hours on my skin!
