The Ocean room is really extraordinary with the private rooftop patio and pool but you cant go wrong with the Arena or Jungle rooms too. If youre worried about the seaweed on the Yucatan coast, then Tulum is a better choice than Cancun because theres so much more to do here (swim in cenotes, boat tours of Sian Kaan Biosphere, swim with turtles in nearby Akumal, great Mexican food in Tulum Pueblo). While they are nice, they are probably not worth the upsell in price. It is a fine hotel (good but not great, nice pool, great beach) but its not on the main Tulum beach area or in town, so its fairly isolated and nothing much within walking distance. While many of the hotels in Tulum have limited restaurants and on site-amenities which would make staying on the property the entire time challenging, there are a few full service hotels that are also adult only. Dune is one of the best hotels in Tulum if you want to party on the beach, Clara on a recent visit to scout out the Dune Boutique. There is always Dreams Tulum, the nearest all inclusive to Tulum and they have an adults only section. Mi Amors bar is perfect for a night cap after dinner in town and close to Mezzanine with a more lively bar/nightlife. No beach right there but its a short walk away. Its one of the fanciest hotels in Tulum, and youll be hard pressed to find a more luxurious hotel in Tulum. The beach in front of Hip Hotel has few if any rocks. Be Tulum Wonderful beach and down at the end of the beach road where its almost secluded. Coral has much more within a short walk including Posada Margherita (the best Italian restaurant in Tulum). Its pretty far south on the beach (between Hip Hotel and Suenos) but still walking distance to a few restaurants and an easy bike ride to the whole beach strip (and town). Thats especially true for Tulum hotels, because the Riviera Maya is a destination where your hotel basically is the center of the entire vacation experience. Not a huge difference in distance from town (about 5 more minutes on bike to get to Nomade). Coco Tulum is definitely closer to town but the beach road is so flat and pleasant that I wouldnt say its a big deal. Alaya will have better service but being right on the beach front like the Playa Mambo cabana is nice. I have to print out all of the food recommendations !! Las Tres Palmas is also budget it has some nice family rooms with separate sleeping areas, small kitchens, no pool. If you are looking for a quiet oasis, Hip Hotel is the perfect place.
